Okay, this is pretty cool.

During one of my, "Let's look around and see what I can find" procrastination sprees, I found LJ Book, a free service that turns your LiveJournal into an ebook. Seriously. In fact, here's a quick pic of one of the pages from my LJ Book. (Click to see it enlarged.)

I think I mentioned this before, but I have a new fandom. Drake & Josh is a show about two step-brothers/best friends that aired on Nick for four years. While I love my guilty pleasure shows, I never watched this one for some reason. Then, this December, I caught the new TV movie, Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh, and it was very funny and sweet. Then Nick ran a marathon, and I caught some eps, and they were very funny and sweet. (As funny as any "adult" sitcom I've seen recently.) Then I found some fanfic, and a lot of it was very good. And I've been hooked ever since.

I was also surprised by how many Supernatural fans were already in the Drake & Josh fandom. Maybe it's the brother thing. (Although D&J are step-brothers.)

A month or so ago, a group of fans did a Drake & Josh Manifesto, and it made me see the show in a new light. I mean, I noticed that there was a lot of stuff people would consider slashy. (When two male characters touch, and hug, and kiss that much, it's gonna inspire some slashfic.) But, after reading the manifesto, I realized that D&J kinda puts the stuff considered subtext and HoYay! by other shows to shame.

I urge everyone to read the Drake & Josh Manifesto. Even if you've never watched or even heard of the show, the manifesto is a hoot.

I love the song "Come To Me" from Fright Night 2. Well, a few days ago, it occurred to me to see if there were fanvids for it. I'm usually not a fan of fanvids because they can get a tad too literal for me. But it had been a while since I saw the movie. And I did find a fanvid I actually liked. So enjoy.

In honor of my newest fandom (Drake & Josh), I bring you icons.

So, the other day, I came across these really cool backgrounds, and had this vague idea of doing something with them at some point in time. Then, I saw a couple of pics of Drake Bell, and...well, it was like it was meant to be. I actually didn't intend to make any more icons or fanart until I really focused on fanfiction. But some things are too perfect to resist.

Title: Hunting High and Low
Author: Dannyblue
Fandom: The Watcher
Word Count: 200 words (a double drabble)
Rating: PG-13
Summary: [info]varietypack100 prompt #3: Ends. (See my prompt table here.)
Warnings: Not really slash, but definitely some slashy subtext if you look at it a certain way. Just like the movie.
Spoilers: Hints for things that happen at the very beginning of The Watcher.
Disclaimer: I don't own The Watcher, or any of its characters.
Author’s Notes: If you’ve never seen the movie, all you really need to know is that David is a serial killer (played by Keanu Reeves) and Joel is an FBI profiler (played by James Spader).
Author’s Note 2: I never imagined I'd be writing in this fandom, but the muse is funny like that. This is the shortest piece I’ve ever written. So, please, be gentle with me. :D

He didn't know how much Joel mattered until he was gone.  )

I just joined the [info]varietypack100 community. Basically, it's like [info]fanfic100, but you're not restricted to writing about just one fandom.

I'm taking this challenge to get over my writer's block and get back into the swing of things. And also to practice writing drabbles and ficlets, which I haven't done a lot of before.

Wish me luck!

I'm fascinated by the strangest things. One of them is story lengths, and how stories of different lengths are called different things. Why does this fascinate me? No idea. It just does.

Anyway, I'm always coming across some new term for some new type of story. So I thought, "What the heck. I'll put 'em in my LJ where I can always get to them and add to them." So here goes.

Some of these terms are fandom specific, meaning you'll probably only see them in relation to fanfiction. Others are general, literary terms.

I made a revised version of my "Chloe as a Crow" wallpaper. And it's not because I'm obsessive. It's not! But after putting the text version on my desktop, and looking at it for a while, I thought of a few composition changes that I think made it look better.

So, here it is. Again, it's 800X600, and you can enlarge it with a click.

I haven't posted any fanart in a bit, but I was inspired to make this wallpaper. Actually, my first idea was to write a fic, but the old writer's block is still giving me problems. But the idea of Chloe as a Crow wouldn't let me go, so I made a manip. Then I wanted to do something with the manip, so I made a wallpaper. Actually, three versions of it. I'm not totally happy with any of them (which is why I did three), but I think Chloe looks cool as a Crow. :)

All three WPs are 800x600. Click on images to enlarge.

The Watcher is a cat-and-mouse thriller in which an FBI profiler (played by James Spader) is trying to catch a serial killer (played by Keanu Reeves) who sort of develops a fondness for him. The fandom for this flick is pretty small, but it has inspired the creation of some pretty good fanfiction and fanvids. And one industrious fan has collected many of them on a single page.

The Watcher Fanfic and Fanvids

Enjoy. And Happy New Year!

Ah, Power Rangers. A show that has been around a ridiculously long time, considering. (They are currently in their 16th season, if you can believe it.) I've been watching the show on-and-off since the beginning, and almost every season has had a different theme song. So of course I have favorites. And here are my top 4.

1. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, mostly for the nostalgia of it all.
2. Power Rangers: Ninja Storm, because it's quirky.
3. Power Rangers: Dino Thunder. My favorite, until...
4. Power Rangers: Mystic Force. When I first heard this theme, I thought it was beyond weird. But that sucker grew on me and now I love it.

Here's the link so you can listen for yourselves.

I recently found this thing called PocketMods, that you are supposed to use to organize your time and be more productive. So, of course, I had to do something fandomy with it. : - D

My first thought was to maybe do a short writer's guide to Supernatural. But the thought of trying to squeeze the awesomeness of that show into 7 or 8 tiny pages freaked me out.

Instead, I decided to do this. Why? I'm not sure. I don't even write smut. But I do read it. On rare occasions. ; - )

Plus, I wanted to do something amusing, but useful.

So, I was fooling around on YouTube when I found a video that claimed to have the ten best cartoon themes of the 80's. So I watched it. And most of the themes didn't seem all that hot, to tell you the truth.

Then came the theme for a cartoon called The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers. And it was, it must be said, awesome!

Anyway, at the end of the clip, there's this one character. And, I swear, the minute I saw him, I thought, "Dean! He is so Dean!" Not so much in looks but in attitude.

See for yourself.
